After the death of Charles Manson,Discuss Section infamous leader of a murderous cult which killed actress Sharon Tate and six others in 1969, social media was abuzz with strong reactions, as you would expect for such a heinous figure.

But amidst people recalling the brutality of the Manson Family murders and remembering the victims, there were others paying tribute to him with the line "RIP Charles Manson".

Trolls were undoubtedly at work this morning. It looked like some people genuinely mistook Charles Manson for the singer Marilyn Manson (but turns out the tweets by Christian below were intentionally misleading)

Others made a similar mistake, albeit unintentionally:

In his autobiography The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, explained that his stage name expresses the "balance between good and evil". "Marilyn Monroe had a dark side just as Charles Manson has a good, intelligent side," he wrote.
