Mark Hamill, the legendary actor who plays Luke Skywalker in the sci-fi saga, has decided to break our hearts with a new image of him wearing a dark, dark outfit for a Hungarian magazine:

While Luke/Mark looks hot AF in that pitch-black piece of clothing, several fans are rightly concerned/excited it may hint to a surprise shift to the Dark Side of the Force from the once-principled hero of the series:

At the end of The Force Awakens, Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, manages to track Luke down at the edge of a cliff in the hope to get some good ol' Jedi training. But things are not as easy as they might seem.

As Hamill told Entertainment Weekly, in the upcoming instalment Rey has to cope with the disappointment of meeting her hero and finding him...lacking.

“The fact that Luke says, ‘I only know one truth. It’s time for the Jedi to end…’ I mean, that’s a pretty amazing statement for someone who was the symbol of hope and optimism in the original films.”

“When I first read it, my jaw dropped. What would make someone that alienated from his original convictions? That’s not something that you can just make up in an afternoon, and I really struggled with this thing.”

Skywalker is probably still coping with some PTSD and guilt over the atrocities Kylo Ren inflicted upon his Jedis-in-training at the Academy.

He's changed a lot, as Hamill told The Associated Pressrecently:

"Luke changed, I think, more than the other characters in the original trilogy, from callow farm boy to a Jedi in training to finally a Jedi master."

"What you're talking about is what really fascinated me. Between "Return of the Jedi" and "Force Awakens," there's just decades of history that's unknown."

We can't wait to know what this means.

Star Wars: The Last Jediwill be in UK cinemas on 15 December.
